We can't deny that we're big fans of decadence, things like truffles & Château Pétrus certainly make the list.
The Broken Stem is always on the look out for our next decadent fix, so when The American Bar at The Savoy, London decided to launch their new Oyster & Martini package, we were all over it. We certainly can't think of a more elegant pairing.
The popularity of oysters has soared in recent years, finding them as part of bar menus across the city, drink garnishes and new seafood restaurants popping up across the city. In one pop-up bar, the oysters were given a douse of Mediterranean gin instead of shallot vinegar.
The new serve, for the month of September, will consist of 6 West Jersey Rock oysters served to your table in a curvy silver box, with a selection of homemade vinaigrettes & of course, Tabasco. To accompany the oysters will be a finely crafted Martini, especially for the occasion: Grey Goose vodka (said to be the worlds best tasting vodka), stirred down with Savoy Cocchi dry vermouth, Savoy bitters and garnished with a caviar stuffed olive - as if it wasn't elegant enough already. The olive is interchangeable with a citrus twist or pickled tomato and served in a beautiful Baccarat crystal martini glass.
The glass itself has been designed at a sharper angle than the standard martini glass, with less surface area the Martini remains colder as well as concentrating the aromas from the drink
This is a grand addition to the evolving martini serves seen across London - from truffle martinis at Dukes Bar to an -18ºC martini at MASH London & Novikov.
The Martini has favourite tipple of well know figures such as Winston Churchill & American poet Dorothy Parker, as well is fictional characters such as James Bond & Family Guy's Brian Griffin.
The Oyster & Martini package will be available for September only, at a price of sixty of your finest English pounds.
